WSC Condemns the People’s Party Treason to Divide Sindh
In a press statement issued today, World Sindhi Congress (WSC) condemned in the strongest terms the treacherous decision of People’s Party dividing Sindh. The establishment of two separate systems, one for  Hyderabad/Karachi and the other for the rest of Sindh, will result  in division of the historic motherland of Sindhi people. 

The division of our homeland is being made after the Sindh Assembly decided in, July 2011, with an overwhelmingly majority, to revoke the local government system which provides dictatorial power to MQM in urban areas. Under the local government system, MQM will control key economic hubs of Sindh and continue to marginalise the rural population of Sindh.  Previously,  local government bills have been used as a catalyst to eliminate representation of Sindhis in Karachi and other urban areas.
Following the Sindh Assembly’s democratic decision to revoke the local government system, a wave of terrorist atrocities targeted against Sindhis, Baloch and other non-Urdu speaking communities commenced in Karachi.  Terrorist activity has succeeded in reversing the democratic process to the detriment of the majority of Sindhis.  It is alleged that MQM has used tactics of fear, intimidation, terror and targeted killing to force a weak People’s Party Government  to surrender to MQM’s anti-democratic and anti-Sindhi demands. Recent media statements by MQM’s leaders, including those by Altaf Hussain, show MQM to be a racist and discriminatory organisation capable of carrying out the recent appalling atrocities in Karachi.
Sadly, the decision to divide Sindh has been made by ‘viceroys’ from Punjab, Babar Aiwan and Rehman Malik, who have no mandate to make decisions on the future of Sindh.  WSC contends that everybody connected with this decision should be considered a traitor to Sindh and its people. The People’s Party has stabbed a knife in the back of Sindhi people, but they should remember that the Sindhi nation will never forget or forgive this injustice and treachery.
Sindhi civilisation and traditions of peace and tolerance stretch back thousands of years.  In spite of  proclamations that they are the sons of Sindh, MQM has demonstrated through their actions that they only represent the narrow and anti-Sindhi ethnic interests of the Urdu-speaking community. Their act to force the division of Sindh will irrevocably damage the relations of Sindhi and Urdu speaking people in Sindh.
This is the worst moment in the history of Sindhi people as our entire history, geography and nationhood is at stake.  WSC calls all Sindhi political parties and civil society organisations to take a united stand to develop a coherent strategy to prevent the division of Sindh.
WSC demands that all People’s Party members and legislators of conscience to stand up against this act of treason to go ahead.  WSC requests all saner Urdu-speaking people to stop this criminal act to happen which would only bring civil war, misery and suffering for the permanent residents of Sindh.
WSC requests all other nations in Pakistan to standby the rightful cause of Sindhi people to save their historical integrity. WSC requests the international community to press up on Pakistani government to stop committing the crime against the history and geography of Sindhi people.
