CHITRAL: The members of the Chitral Mines Association and leaders of different political parties on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti to order probe into irregularities in the award of lease of mines.
Addressing a joint news conference, the Chitral Mines Association’s Col (R) Sardar Muhammad, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Sifat Zareen, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl office-bearer Balinas and others accused the Minister for Mineral Development Mehmood Khan Zeb of awarding lease to his near and dear ones.
“The minister has awarded 10 mines on lease to his brother Sikander Zeb and
genuine parties of the area are being ignored,” Balinas added. They feared that the law and order situation would deteriorate if the government continued awarding lease to its favourites and ignoring the people of the area. They hoped the chief minister would order probe into the matter and provide relief to the miners of the area.
