ICFPD Executive Director Mumtaz khan has expressed serious concerns over the illegal detention of Chairman of United Movement of Gilgit Baltistan Munzur Husain Parwana and demanded immediate release of him. Mumtaz Khan said that detention of Manzur Parwana was illegal act by Pakistan since Pakistan Constitution calls GB disputed territory. But past track record is evident that Pakistan has been involved in serious human rights violations by suppressing and oppressing the voices of indigenous people of Gilgit Baltistan for their fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined in UN Declaration of human rights and applicable to all nations. The arrest of Manzur Parwana clearly reflects that Pakistani rulers wants its controlled parts to submit Pakistan’s Jihadi policies against Indian controlled Kashmir and demand to end Pakistan’s systematic apartheid system from its controlled parts always drew adverse response from security agencies directly from Islamabad. When nationalist forces challenge Islamabad’s unconstitutional and extra-constitutional acts in Gilgit Baltistan are held under such laws that are inconsistent to Pakistan’s political claims and Constitution including UNCIP Constitution including UNCIP resolutions. This dual and extra-Constitutional control of Pakistan must come to end in its controlled parts of Kashmir so that people of these region could exercise their legitimate right in government making and agenda setting for social and political development of their regions and people.
