Putting a housewife on ECL strongly condemned - Member Human Right Commission of Pakistan PDF Print E-mail
Latest news

RAWALPINDI:- Vice President Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court Bar Association and member Human Right Commission of Pakistan  Wazir Farman Ali advocate has strongly condemned the act of the authorities to put the name of housewife on the ECL, which is serious violation of the basic fundamental rights.
While talking to media persons, he said that concern authorities has put the name of wife of  Abdul Hameed Cahirman Baloristan National Front (BNF) on the ECL, which is highly regrettable as on one hand the Government of Pakistan claimed that full rights were provided to women and necessary steps are being taken for their empowerment and on the other hand they denied the basic rights to housewife of a political worker. Wazir said that the wife of any person could not be penalized for the acts of their husbands for which they are not concerned, the curtailment of her right of free movement is discriminatory one as every citizen has the right free movement, he added.
He said under the Islamic law as well as the law of the land that a housewife has every right to spend her life with her spouse, but in the instant case, a housewife has been denied her legal and Islamic rights, which is un constitutional and un-Islamic and illegal. He urged to the Interior Ministry and Government of Pakistan to remove the name of wife of the BNF Chairman and to give her the right of free movement.

Chinese Military Taking Over Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan Considering Proposal to Lease the Disputed Region to China for 50 Years By: Tufail Ahmad* -- MEMRI PDF Print E-mail
Latest news

Introduction

According to a report published by an Urdu-language newspaper, Pakistan is considering a proposal to lease the strategic region of Gilgit Baltistan to China. The Pakistani move is aimed at fortifying its strategic relations with China amid the irreparable rupture in U.S.-Pakistan relations over the past year. Gilgit Baltistan, previously known as the Northern Areas, shares the international border with China.

Like Pakistani-occupied Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan – which had been part of the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir during the British rule – is not formally part of Pakistan and is not under the jurisdiction of Pakistani constitution. There are no representatives from Gilgit Baltistan in the Pakistani parliament or federal government institutions.

BNF chief's wife on ECL Ban smacks of Pakistan's vengeance ... Bang e Sahar PDF Print E-mail
Latest news

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has put the name of exiled Chairman Balawaristan National Front (BNF) Abdul Hamid Khan's wife on the Exit Control List (ECL) and stopped her from leaving the country for Thailand along with her brother. Mr Khan is the head of the hardline nationalist party of Gilgit-Baltistan and is living in Belgium for the last over four years on political asylum.

He has been demanding that the issue of Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan, should be resolved under the United Nations resolutions. Pakistan has been perturbed over efforts Mr Khan has been making in highlighting the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan at the international level and especially in European Parliament, which also passed a landmark resolution in favour of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in 2007.

As revenge, the government of Pakistan has now put the name of Mr Khan's wife Zaibul Nigar on the Exit Control List (ECL). It is indeed shameful that a woman has been deprived of her right to freedom of movement for no fault of hers.

This move of the so-called democratic government of Pakistan is not only illegal but is also against the very principals of Islam under which no one can stop a woman from meeting her husband or other family members without any tangible reasons.

Even if she was punished for her husband's struggle, it is also a fact that Mr Khan has neither committed any murder nor ever taken up guns and launched armed struggle against anyone and is only working for the emancipation of his people by peaceful democratic means. On the contrary, there are scores of elements involved in murders and other crimes within Pakistan who are free to move out of the country and come back without any restrictions.

This highhandedness also shows how the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, especially those raising voice for their rights, are being victimized at the hands of Pakistan and its agencies. The nationalist parties of the region have rejected the move of the interior ministry of Pakistan and called upon international organizations to take notice of the matter and put pressure on Islamabad to stop such unilateral steps against the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

They said it was blatant violations of human rights and international laws to stop a peaceful citizen, that too a woman, from visiting any country with proper visa and other documents. It should be noted that Mr Khan's wife had booked a room in the Parkway Inn of Bangkok in Thailand on Jan 30 along with her brother. But she was told by FIA immigration staff at the Islamabad airport that she would not be allowed to fly out of the country only because she was the wife of BNF chief Abdul Hamid Khan. Even she was not given any reason for the ban by the immigration authorities.

Once they are free they know how to develop themselves.

If you really sympathise with Baloch then ask

There are numerous steps which can be taken to reduce the reservations of public at large. There is dire need to include the Balochis in maistream at national level ,,, war footing development in remote areas is badly needed ,,, all political forces (in whatever form these are present in Balochi society) must be taken on board ... lest it is too late for us to realize and mourn the after effects in the years to follow ,,,,

PAKISTAN: The head of the ISI must be prosecuted for hatching conspiracy against democracy

Dear friends,

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information that the Director General of the Inter Services Intelligence Agency, the country's foremost intelligence agency, has hatched a conspiracy to overthrow the democratically elected government and parliament by taking help from some Arab monarchies who have strong influence in the affairs of the country. The Pakistan Army has been trying for two years to overthrow the civilian government and it is alleged that in the month of May 2011, Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha, the chief of the ISI, visited several Arab monarchies in a personal capacity and sought clearance for the army to take over the country. It is also alleged that he was given the 'OK' by these monarchies. He also visited China, without taking permission from the prime minister, but apparently did not get any formal assistance.

General Pasha also submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court accusing the civilian government's former ambassador of writing a memo to the USA government in which he made charges against the armed forces and the ISI.

Human rights violations, sectarian targeted killings and state-led terrorism continue in Gilgit under government patronage. After one hundred days of the tragedy of Hunza, where a father and his son were killed by law enforcement agents, government has failed to arrest the murderers. It has rather resorted to arresting and torturing political leader Babajan Hunzai and twelve other activists, which shows absence of law and justice in the region. This was stated by chairperson of Gilgit-Baltistan United Movement, Engineer Manzoor Parwana. He claimed that Gilgit-Baltistan ranked top in South Asia when counting the number of incidents of human rights violations in the year 2011. He accused the so-called provincial government for not only failing to control but intentionally supporting and promoting state-led terrorism, sectarianism, lawlessness, targeted killings and corruption which has engulfed Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that GBUM will issue white paper in this regard and details will be sent to the international human rights organizations including the UNO.

and to kill Soonis by showing the stage managed retaliation, which was long desing to divide and rule, so the brave people are not united againt the Pakistani rule. This is not individual act of ISI person, this is the

part of Pakistan occupation regime and its ISI. BNF was telling these type of terrorism to its indigenous people and condemning since 1992 after its establishment. The occupation regime has not been punishing any

one by blaming on external forces and we the people of BNF have been saying yes, these are the acts of exterla forces and their agencies and those external forces are getting orders to kill the indigenous poeple

GIGLIT: To serve humanity and those in need has always been a motto of rights activists and kind-hearted people all over the world and we can see this in times of tragedies and trial and tribulations when people
come forward, give a helping hand to the distressed and then go away without seeking anything in return after winning nothing else but hearts of millions.
In our Gilgit-Baltistan we have seen in the recent past some of nature's worst calamities when people were wiped out of their hearths and homes and left shivering under the open sky. However, those who
were expected to come to their rescue in these times of tragedies were nowhere to be seen. However, humanity never remains short of kind and God fearing people whenever there is a tragedy in any part of the world. During the crises that we saw in Giglit-Baltistan, we saw even poor people coming to the help of those in need and sharing whatever they had in their possession.

Forced Convergence and Killing of Hindus in Sindh PDF Print E-mail

Dear Halepoto,

After writing good paras then at the end you appealed to the chief justice for taking Sou Motto, this appeal would be no different if you ask the perpetrators that please do not do next time again. Every person knows the mindsets of our so called "independent judges" which are no different from the Taliban. In the case of Mukhtaran Mai chief justice kept her appeal for six years and then decided in favour of the rapists. Not a single case of violence against women or forced conversion of Islam after the abduction and rape of the minority girls ever have been taken by the judges. We send every case of violence against women and religious minority to the supreme court and high courts but they just throw them. They have read the stories from Nasim Hijazi's novels and they want to become the hereos of Nasim Hijazi's novels. These judges want to become the Hazrat Umer and others looking for if any dog is lying hungry or listening to the voices from the houses during the night patrolling--Nasim Hijazi says they were not listening the voices for any other reasons but to know what the people are having thinking about the rulers.

Rather than taking the path of right wing politics we should organise the civil society (not meaning the NGOs but lawyers, Hari committees, students, trade union, teachers, doctors, journalists, political workers and different associations)  at least on this issue and agitate. Otherwise a nexus between judges, Taliban, ISI, military and religious political parties will turn the country in a violent, communal and sectarian society.

Forced Convergence and Killing of Hindus in Sindh

We strongly condemn the brutal murder of 4 Hindu doctors in their clinic in Chak town close to district Shikarpur, Sindh, Pakistan.Shikarpur by armed men of Bhayo tribe, a baradari. The head of Bhayo baradari is district president of PPP. First they tried to kidnap Hindu girls and tried to forcibly convert them into Islam and when the Hindu community took strong notice then the Bhayo tribe people did an ambush at the clinic and Dr Ashok, Dr Naresh, Dr Ajeet and Dr Satia Paul were killed by armed assailants while working in their clinic even on Eid day.

This is an inhuman, immoral and illegal brutality against those who serve the people as doctors and savors. This act is a black dot on the face of secular, progressive and tolerant identity of Sindhi society.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place where members of Hindu community have been targeted. What is of concern is that the law enforcement agencies tend to support the criminals involved in such acts.

Religious minorities, vulnerable groups and women are the victim of an ANTI-HUMAN mindset comprised of local feudals, tribal chief, religious extremists and local agencies. They collaborate with each other to weaken the state writ and to develop their own hegemony.

Their being in power have collapsed the entire law and order and justice systems and paralyzed the administrative institutions to demonstrate their duties. And subsequently there is no state writ in these areas. We appeal to the government, political parties and civil society to take notice of this brutality and religious fascism and specially government to make arrangements to protect the citizens.

First we appeal to Asif Ali Zardari to immediately suspend PPP district Shikarpur president so-called sardar Bhayo, orders must immediately be issued to arrest him and all other culprits, who is exploiting local administration. We appeal Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo Motto of the targeting of Hindus in parts of Sindh.
