STATES
8. The mirs of Hunza and Nagar are at present in Karachi. So far as can be ascertained, no especial political significance is to be attached to this visit, although undoubtedly every effort is being made to “sweeten them” in preparation for a possible plebiscite in their States. COMMENTS:Plebiscite is the third stage of the UNCIP basic 13 Aug 1948 resolution on J&K dispute. So, Govt of Pakistan accepted both these princely States to be part and parcel of the Bolor Jammu and Kashmir dispute. There are many more documents proving this very fact, which will be displayed to dispel and confusion in this regard.

OF RIGHTS IN CHINESE TURKISTAN.
Memorandum:
Please refer to this office memorandum No. 47-s, dated the 12th May 1937, on the above mentioned subject.
The Mir of Hunza has requested that a Sanad for the Jagir granted to him in Oshkandas (Bagrot) in the Gilgit sub-division may be granted to him by Government. It is requested that, if the Resident sees no objection, the Government of India may Kindly be asked to grant a Sanad to the Mir for the Jagir in question on terms mentioned in Government letter No. F.366-n 36, dated the 7th December 1936
Signed COMMENTS> Taghdumbash Pamir was carved out from the State of Kanjut (Hunza) and was attached with Afghanistan so that a buffer can be formed between the Southward expending Russian empire and Northward expending British empire. The rights of the Mir of Hunza in Taghdumbash Pamir were disclaimed by the British for arriving at this understanding with Russians. The Mir of Hunza was compensated in other ways.

2. I am desired to say that we consider that it will be undesirable to give a formula Sanad to the Mir of Hunza as it will be difficult to avoid its publication in subsequent edition of Aitchison’s Treaties. For obvious reasons it is proposed tha the agreement reached with the Mir of Hunza should be kept secret. Further, there is no precedent for the formal grant of a Jagir by the Paramount power in a leased area. The sovereignty over Gilgit would, in the true senses of the word, need the confirmation of His Highness I am therefore to suggest that it will be sufficient if an official letter is issued to the Mir under your signature in reply to his letter which was forwarded with your signature in reply to his letter which was forwarded with your letter No.D.316-C/37, dated the 29th May 1937, confirming in detail the offer which was presumably made to him in the Political Agent, Gilgit’s letter No.31, dated the 1st April 1937. If you agree I am to ask you kindly to forward a Draft…….

COMMENTS
The Mir of Nagar since long was under the suzerainty of Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir. The documents are self evident of this fact.
v Mir Sahib, Governors, Gushpurs, Hazerin –
We are assembled to witness a rare and very important ceremony, the installation of Mir Mohammad Ghazan Khan as Mir of Hunza.
There can be but few men present here today who saw the previous ceremony, when Mir Sir Mohammad Nazim Khan was installed by the then Political Agent surgeon Robertson, for that took place no less than 48 years or nearly 2 generations ago. It is not given to many rulers to reign for such a prolonged time, and fortunate indeed were the subjects of Mir Mohammad Nazim Khan, for in this period of nearly half a century their mode of life was changed and they knew the blessings of peace and what it meant to live in tranquility. The late Mir was, in truth, the father of his people, he built Khuls, and turned large areas of Barren soil into green and smiling fields and fruitful orchards, he made roads and built bridges and above all maintained law or order. He was loyalty itself and as a personality and a character he was outstanding. He was loved and trusted by all officers with whom he came into contact. He passed away 2 years ago honored by the Government of India and by his suzerain the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, mourned by his people, having left a name behind him which will never be forgotten.
To you, Mir Mohammad Ghazan Khan, I now extend the most sincere and cordial congratulations not only on behalf of His Excellency the Viceroy, and on behalf of His Highness the Maharaja of Kashmir, but personally. You were fortunate in that you succeeded apprenticeship and had therefore gained experience and knowledge by the time you were called upon to govern in Hunza. I must acknowledge that the delay which has occurred in the formal and ceremonial recognition of your succession has been unfortunate. You may rest assured however that this was due to circumstances entirely unconnected with you personally and beyond your control. It has given me the greatest pleasure to be able to journey to this wonderful country and to install you myself.
We live in momentous times and no one’s thoughts
